Overview


6.8 NGSW is a composite cased cartridge developed by a Texas based company called True Velocity. The cartridge was considered by the US Army to replace the 5.56mm M4A1 carbine and M249 squad automatic weapon in close-combat units, the weapon it was designed for was not selected as the replacement however the cartridge garnered interest from numerous nations due to its weight and ballistics capabilities. As of yet no countries have adopted the cartridge but there are rumours that a certain Special Operations Task Force may be adopting the round.

The cartridge has three different loads:

XM1168 - Full Metal Jacket Ball ammo. Also has a tracer variant.

XM1169 - Special Purpose Match ammo designed for long range shooting. Also has a tracer variant.

XM1170 - Special Purpose Armor Piercing ammo with a tungsten penetrator. Also has a tracer variant.
